Chicken Bone Broth

Updated: Jul 19, 2022

If you're looking to get back to your ancestral roots, this is a good place to start. The medicinal properties of bone broth are endless. This broth will boost your immune system when you are sick and help to eliminate that cold or flu making its way through your body. There are a number of other benefits that you can derive from this as well, not just when you're sick. This broth is so simple to make and you can either store it in the freezer or can it (if you have a pressure cooker) like I have done here. Not to mention, grocery stores charge an arm and a leg for the stuff. Why not just cut out the middleman, huh?

Ingredients 1 leftover chicken carcass (meat having already been pulled off) 1-2 chicken bullion cubes 2 carrots, roughly chopped 2 celery stalks, roughly chopped 1 onion, cut into chunks 1/4 cup fresh turmeric (optional) 2 bay leaves

1 teaspoon garlic powder

1 teaspoon onion powder 2 teaspoons dried oregano 2 teaspoons dried rosemary 2 teaspoons dried thyme (you can use any herb combination you have in your kitchen) 1-2 tablespoon apple cider vinegar (depending on how big your bird is) 8 cups filtered water (or more, depending on the size of your pot?) salt and pepper to taste Add all ingredients to a large pot and bring to a boil. Skim off the top layer of fat that rises to the surface and bring to a simmer. Place a lid on the pot and let simmer for 24 hours. That's it! Btw, the apple cider vinegar is a crucial part of the process. It pulls all of the minerals and collagen out of the bones and marrow, which is where the power is. I always make chicken soup when either of my boys gets sick (which is not often, luckily). Must be the broth....
